BRICS: The Dollar and Euro are welcome in Russia while Maduro returns empty-handed.

The dreams of creating an economic bloc aimed at countering the use of the dollar have been established in Kazan, Russia during the sixteenth meeting of BRICS.   But while this meeting of the bloc took place in Washington, the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB)

During the BRICS meeting, 12 countries were accepted as new partners. These are:

✅ Algeria

✅ Belarus

✅ Bolivia

✅ Cuba

✅ Indonesia

Kazakhstan

✅ Malaysia

✅ Nigeria

✅ Thailand

✅ Turkey

✅ Uganda

✅ Kazakhstan

✅ Vietnam

According to the rules established by those leading the group, these countries would only be partners without having permanent member status.

But beyond being a meeting to add members, it seems, more than an economic bloc meeting, a round of inclusion of more partners still without resolving differences among member states or articulating its purpose beyond merely countering the use of the US dollar as the global currency.

Notably absent was the President of Brazil, Lula Da Silva, due to health issues, as one of the permanent members of BRICS.  Brazil publicly noted that it would not support the inclusion of Venezuela as a partner country, citing the need to study this candidacy carefully. Lula has been critical of the Venezuelan regime for not showing the minutes of the presidential elections held on July 28 and has also maintained a reserved position regarding the outcome and Venezuela's actions against Guyana.  Lula protects his image as an international leader with the aim of being an international mediator between Russia and Ukraine.

The situation in Venezuela is complicated. It could not join the BRICS group and depends on Russian investments, reflecting its difficult international position.

In the end, Venezuela remains outside of BRICS this year, and Cuba and Bolivia are invited to be partners.   But in its return, resulting in Nicolás Maduro coming back empty-handed from the meeting, the Venezuelan presidential plane made a stop in Tehran while two others with the registration numbers #YV2984 and #YV3545 remained in Kazan.  Perhaps seeking VIP photos as a way to justify this great expenditure of the country's resources. This logistical movement cost between 750 thousand dollars and a million dollars for...nothing.

The BRICS declaration urges members and partners to follow the standards of the United Nations, condemns Israel's actions in the Middle East concerning its attacks on the Iranian consulate in Syria and its invasion by ground troops in southern Lebanon.

While the  countries that make up this emerging BRICS bloc aspire to great objectives and counter their main enemy, the American empire, it should be noted that the organizers of this event warned participants to bring cash dollars and euros due to credit card usage restrictions. Cash dollars and euros continue to show that they are welcome anywhere in the world. This fact underlines the persistent relevance and acceptance of the dollar and the euro in global trade, evidencing that, despite intentions for economic diversification, traditional currencies remain valued and necessary worldwide.
