Disability vs. Suitable Environment

We say, “A person is NOT incapacitated, but is incapacitated.”Disability is not part of the essence of the person, it can only be viewed when someone has difficulty performing some activity, compared to others.

"Deficiency refers to a restriction or absence due to a deficiency of the ability to perform an activity in the form or within the margin considered normal for the human being".

It may be temporary or permanent, reversible or irreversible. It is a functional limitation, consequence of a deficiency, which manifests itself in everyday life.

Currently, initiatives for the rights of persons with disabilities are redefining the term disability as a lack of suitability between the person and his environment, more than a consequence of a person's disability.

Inclusion through the Speech

Instead of saying: “Discapacity”, diCapacity! Here we suggest adding this phrase to vocabulary as one of the first actions to promote inclusion through speech, the power of the word. In this way, you will be open to incorporating acceptance of social groups, promoting better social links and getting a better experience. Let's start: Dispacity!

In Argentina, there are projects and initiatives that dedicate efforts to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities through the vocational training of children in the field of work, this speaks of a cultural change in the country that is beginning to observe.

When a society awakens in consciousness and opens itself to the knowledge of its environment, saying: If to capacity, Self to inclusion, it expresses its interest in acting more integrative and just, adding new experiences, allowing disabled people to incorporate themselves into fields to those who commonly had no access.

On this theme there is so much to talk about. The important thing is to make a first reflection on our speech, promote awareness, awareness about the social opportunities of people with disabilities.
