On August 4, 2025, in La Matanza, Javier Milei launched his electoral campaign in the province of Buenos Aires holding a sign that read “Kirchnerism Never Again,” referring to the emblematic report of the CONADEP (National Commission on the Disappearance of Persons) “Never Again,” which documented the crimes of state terrorism and became a symbol of the fight for memory, truth, and justice.
This message against past governments received much criticism from various sectors, with some human rights leaders labeling it as an improper appropriation of a sacred symbol of collective memory and democratic return, used to symbolically attack Kirchnerism.
Victoria Tolosa Paz (Union for the Homeland) accused the ruling party of “trivializing pain” and “desecrating a sacred slogan.” She also clarified that "Never Again belongs to everyone," emphasizing the need to respect a motto that transcends political differences and represents a shared struggle for justice.
For his part, Esteban Paulón (Federal Encounter) described the message as “unacceptable.” In his critique, he highlighted that "Never Again" is a deeply felt cause and a democratic symbol shared by all Argentines.
Additionally, Fernanda Raverta, former director of ANSES, joined the rejection with a more ironic tone. She mocked the electoral pose of mayor Guillermo Montenegro, questioning his attire and pointing out that the use of the historical symbol represents a “total humiliation” for its meaning.
