The grieta strategy

Although the concept of “fundamentalism” is associated with the religious context, particularly in religions whose practices are rigorous and unbearing with those who follow other models, their interpretation can be extensive to other aspects.

The general characteristics of any type of fundamentalism are based on:

  • the deep conviction in something that should not be demonstrated,
  • the lack of tolerance for anything questioning or planting something otherwise or different,
  • The unreserved acceptance that if something is product of what is considered essential will be unquestionable and accepted.
  • The failures of the membership group are the responsibility of others,
  • The successes of others are the product of chance, luck or external factors, that is, they will never be worthy of any recognition.
In general, all these qualities escape reason, in the sense of being the product of intellectual and conscious processes, approaching more emotive, primitive and unconscious issues.

Fundamentalists lack self-criticism and are experts in finding the flaws in the rest.

If we put an extreme to fundamentalism, the other would be doubt. Those who lack this particular way of assuming the different realities, without questioning or doubt, on the contrary, seek to analyze alternatives by putting more plasticity to thought to the difference of others, more rigid and structured.

Jaime Durán Barba is an image consultant and political advisor who understood the advantages of relying on fundamentalists within the ranks of politicians who advised during various campaigns.

The backbone of its strategy is focused on defining, using statistics and technologies, how to detect and manufacture fundamentalists to establish an electoral basis and from there how to reach that portion of citizens who doubt, those who ultimately define the elections.

In broad lines, voters, although well-worked, are grouped into three sectors, group A fundamentalists (between 20% and 30% of the electorate), group B fundamentalists (also between 20% and 30%) and the influencers, between 60% and 40%.

This model of electoral strategy has served to enable Argentina to enter a fundamentalist polarization process in the last 60 years.Dogmatics for one or the other side, surround 60% of the electorate, while 40% remainder suffers lack of representation in extreme planes. In fact, if, instead of analyzing the country's electoral composition, we observe how the voters are distributed, we would find that the influencers are the minority and the immutable majority. The magnitude of the distribution produced that, which was initially an electoral model, became part of a management model. The strategy of the rift, which served the ruling parties or alliances, moved to the public administration making any state intervention unproductive. All powers, executive, legislative and judicial are influenced by the rift, which became a way of administering, legislating and judging.Any executive action taken by a group will be rejected by the other. Any bill will find opposite plans with or without grounds. The judicial failures are treated as partial on the one hand, when it favors the other, reaching the madness that an acquittal or overstrain is insufficient or that a conviction is good or bad.The rules of fundamentalism are aliens and far away for those we doubt, that we can only become observers of battles among others, but that are fought in our homes, affecting our lives, our patrimonies and our dreams.Evidence of this situation is found in the growth of the state in all its forms. The fundamentalists contain themselves, each within their group, to such a point that the rest of private activities, in one way or another, must be added to any of the extremes. The best of the examples is in opinion journalists and in some media. Treatment of any type of information may review observations or conclusions diametrically opposite and be raised with total normality.Like the sophist school, much of the means of information explain to us equally rigorously that it is day or night at the same time. The growth of a ruling class supported by an electorate who does not think, but only expresses emotions has served only to leaders at the expense of the leaders. As in football, the River or Boca planted have postponed the development of other teams, only in the case of politics and public management what is postponed is the growth of the country and increase the losses of opportunities. It is time to realize that adapting to fundamentalist models of segmentation of society only serves to promote a valueless, half-day policy that will have inefficient managements.Officialism and opposition are part of the country's governing bodies and counterparts. Together, they must give us an explanation and account for their activities. The failure of a management is the failure of politics. For us, citizens there is no gap, there are results.Until when will we be functional to the speculative management of a ruling class that only thinks of coming, at the expense of the extreme ideological fragmentation of its citizens, to justify any bad performance or crime? It is very likely that when, as citizens, we cease to be fundamentalists and become part of those who doubt much of what they say to us, we will no longer be functional to one or the other side of the rift and become useful to ourselves.
