"The Last Frontier," a warning about the threat of communist China.

Rafael Marrero, Economist, Founder and President of the Miami Intelligence Strategic Institute, and a warning about China

Before a large audience, on the night of June 5, the book The Last Frontier: Chronicle of the Resistance of the U.S. Against Communist China. A War for Freedom and the Future of the West, by the author bestseller Dr. Rafael Marrero, economist and senior geopolitical analyst.

The presentation took place at the headquarters of the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance, where analysts, former military personnel, intellectuals, and members of the Hispanic community gathered.

The event opened with words from Dr. Orlando Gutiérrez-Boronat, director of the Assembly, who raised a prayer for the Cuban students who “face the forces of darkness” of the regime for claiming their rights after the recent internet restrictions on the island. “These young people will achieve victory,” he asserted.

Regarding the book, Gutiérrez-Boronat emphasized the importance of focusing on communist China, a regime that "has been occupying key strategic positions". As he stated, books like this break the bubble we have been in, the bubble of thinking, as Secretary Marco Rubio says, that the communist Chinese wanted to be like us. No, they want to replace us and become the world's hegemonic power".

"The only way to break that complacency is by telling the truth," he concluded. That’s why, he added, "this book is a brave act, a declaration from a free citizen who refuses to become a slave to a totalitarian power".

For his part, diplomat and former political prisoner Luis Zúñiga indicated that "communism aims for global hegemony, to impose its system on the entire world, and that is what China seeks." Zúñiga, who has read the book and knows the research work in depth, warned about the theft of technology, espionage, and Chinese interests, not only in the U.S. but also in Latin America.

Dr. Marrero, founder of the Miami Strategic Intelligence Institute (MSI²), thanked the presence of several figures, starting with his wife Lina Marrero, at the helm of the publishing house Bravo Zulu Publishers, as well as retired naval intelligence officer José Adán Gutiérrez, former intelligence lieutenant colonel Octavio Pérez, journalist Marian de la Fuente, special operations veteran PK Kelley, and Luis Zúñiga.

The author detailed the various aspects of China's strategy in the West, how the Communist Party of China (CPC) "erodes democracy in Latin America," and how since the 1970s, the Asian country has woven a complex web of dependency in the U.S. undermining various key sectors.

The Last Frontier exposes how the Chinese communist regime has strategically penetrated the economic, technological, and security structures of the United States. Marrero, educated at Stanford and Cornell, compiles in this volume years of research on Beijing's silent but lethal advance. The work, completed shortly before Donald J. Trump's victory in the elections of November 5, presents a coherent line with the former president's strategies, especially regarding trade decoupling and the imposition of tariffs.

The attendees, many standing due to the large influx of people, thanked Dr. Marrero for his strategic reflections and the atmosphere of fraternity created during his talk about the book, which several described as a masterclass on the penetration of communist China in the United States.

At the close, the Venezuelan writer and lawyer Emmanuel Rincón, emphasized the ties of China with the regimes of Venezuela and Cuba.

More about the book

Far from being an academic treatise, The Last Frontier is a call to action. Marrero speaks directly to entrepreneurs, citizens, and leaders to reduce dependence on Chinese products and strengthen national production. It is, according to the author, a battle for sovereignty, democratic values, and the leadership of the West.

The book has been widely supported by experts from the military and intelligence fields, particularly former naval intelligence commander Jesús Romero, co-founder of the think tank Miami Strategic Intelligence Institute. With insightful comments, former CIA officer Enrique “Ric” Prado, Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar and military analyst Octavio Pérez agree that this is a must-read to understand the real scope of the Chinese threat.

The event was sponsored by the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance, the Miami Strategic Intelligence Institute (MSI²) and Bravo Zulu Publishers, and included a courtesy toast from the company Wine41, in an environment where concern for the future of freedom blended with commitment.
