Masters Argentina will hold its annual conference on April 5 and 6 in New York, where political leaders such as María Eugenia Vidal and Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, as well as presidents and executives of the largest companies operating in the country, such as YPF, Accenture and Mercado Libre, will participate.
Masters Argentina is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that since 2016 has been connecting Argentine graduate students abroad. Since its founding, it has been in charge of organizing an annual conference where it brings together students with political, business, social and cultural leaders of the country to reflect and discuss the main challenges and opportunities for Argentina. This year its 9th edition entitled "From Potential to Reality: Transforming Individual Talent into Collective Achievement" will take place next Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6 in New York City.
The event will open at the Council of the Americas on Friday, while most of the panels on Saturday will take place at the prestigious Columbia University and the closing of the conference will be held at the Argentine Consulate in New York. Around 30 speakers and more than 170 students and graduates from various universities abroad such as Chicago, Columbia, George Washington, Harvard, MIT, Northwestern, NYU, Pennsylvania and Yale are expected to participate.
Friday will begin at 4:30 pm with a guided tour of the Council of the Americas art exhibit by Aimé Iglesias, the Argentine curator of the art space. Afterwards, Emmanuel Ferrario (Legislator for the City of Buenos Aires) will interview Sergio Kaufman (Director of Accenture for Latin America and Asia-Pacific) on the main opportunities and challenges posed by the new geopolitical changes in the world, especially for developing countries such as Argentina.
Saturday will begin at 9:00 am with a conversation about the entrepreneurial potential of the country with important Venture Capital funds that invest in Argentina, such as NXTP and Gridx, in articulation with successful entrepreneurs in the country as the founders of Fligoo and OncoPrecision. This will be followed by a panel focused on discussing possible innovation alternatives to achieve development with social equity with an emphasis on urban development, education and employment, with speakers such as María Eugenia Vidal (National Deputy and former Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires) and Juan Maquieyra (Director of TECHO Argentina). Afterwards, Nicolás Dujovne (former Minister of Economy) and Marina Dal Poggetto (Director of EcoGoConsultores) will develop their views on Argentina's current economic program and its ability to right the economy. To close the morning block, Horacio Marín (current President and CEO of YPF), will present to the audience the company's growth strategy for the next four years.
After lunch, the forum will continue with a debate about the potential of the Fintech sector in Latin America, with the participation of Ualá executives and founders of startups in the sector such as Mundi, SIDOM and CLO. Afterwards, Luis Colmegna (CEO of Lartirigoyen), José Aggio (Human Resources Leader of Lithium Argentina), Pablo Vera Pinto (Finance Manager of Vista Energy) and Daiana Molero (National Deputy for the City of Buenos Aires) will continue with a reflection on the current context and the main opportunities to be developed in strategic industries of the Argentine economy. The closing of this block will be in charge of Pablo Panizza (Sales Leader of AB InBev), who will talk about the challenges to develop a global career coming from Argentina.
The final part of the event is concentrated in two panels. First, there will be a conversation between two former presidential candidates in the last national elections: Horacio Rodríguez Larreta (former Chief of Staff of the City of Buenos Aires) and Juan Schiaretti (former Governor of Córdoba), who will reflect on the current state of local and national political leadership and the importance of their role in solving the country's problems. In the last panel of the day, Federico Eisner (Partner of Bain & Company) will interview Daniel Rabinovich (Operations Leader of Mercado Libre) about the history of the largest Argentine unicorn and its path climbing the company from its origins in an office in a Buenos Aires garage to its current extensive operations throughout Latin America. The official closing of the event will take place at the Argentine Consulate in New York, with a farewell gathering attended by both students and conference speakers.
