The technological advancement and digital transformation also reach the legal world, and the LegalThon 2025 was a clear example of this. Organized by Fingurú, the Law School of the University of Buenos Aires, and Alex Pestchanker in collaboration with Project Catalyst, the event brought together academics, teachers, students, and legal professionals in a unique experience where technological innovation and legal knowledge united to rethink the future of law in the blockchain era.

Knowledge and decentralized governance
The main objective of LegalThon was to generate academic knowledge about decentralized governance, focusing on the Cardano ecosystem, strengthening the link between public universities and technological innovation. Throughout the meeting, talks, workshops, and a hackathon took place, where participating teams presented proposals with high potential for academic and social impact.
A mixed jury, made up of representatives from UBA and blockchain specialists, evaluated the projects and recognized the teams that best integrated the legal perspective with the decentralized logic of new technologies.
Innovation, learning, and community
The LegalThon 2025 was not only a space for competition but also for learning and collective construction. The panels featured the participation of prominent specialists who addressed the challenges and opportunities of law in the face of technology: Gabriela Battiato, Mauro Federico Camaño, Guillermo Schor-Landman, and Nicolás Yaryura Tobías in the first panel; and Martín H. Pefaur, Magalí C. Sobrado, and Mauro Ordóñez Bensusan in the second.
Moreover, the teams were supported by mentors who guided the development process of their ideas: Martín H. Pefaur, María Fiorentini, Mauro Federico Camaño, Francisco Rodríguez Abinal, Juan Francisco Petrillo, and Sofía Magalí Barros Méndez, who contributed their experience in law, technology, and project management.

A strategic alliance for the future
From Fingurú, they celebrated this strategic alliance that promotes academic training, applied research, and building a bridge between the public university and the blockchain community. “Events like the LegalThon demonstrate that legal knowledge can be a driver of innovation when combined with technology and collaborative work,” the organization highlighted.
