Spreen: The Riestra Masterclass

Despite the storm of criticism that Deportivo Riestra received, I am going to take a phrase from Salvador Dalí to exemplify what I thought of Riestra's digital marketing move: "Whether they speak well or badly, the important thing is that they talk about me, although I confess that I like it when they speak badly because that means things are going very well for me. Nobody talks about the mediocre, and when they do, they only say wonderful things." I heard and read countless negative comments regarding this move, which I consider to be very effective for Riestra to make itself known and generate an impact on its positioning in the League. Not only because of this, Riestra has been demonstrating different things: DJs at matches, energy drinks at halftime, a format that traditionalists are not used to, nor do they imagine or think about. They showed that with a very low cost, it is possible to make an impact and generate discussions that change traditional standards, that which is ethically correct. Now I wonder, where are those defenders of ethics when professional boxers are affected by the "gala" events of streamers? Where are they when streamers dive into sports journalism without having taken a single course with Don Niembro? Are they not startled by the Kings League? Which multiplies its numbers every year? That takes professional players to the stream and then returns them to professionalism, like Nico Gaitán, for example? Where are those defenders of ethics and good customs when referees are handpicked, when democratic elections are voted on with a single list? Where are they? I'll tell you where they are: attacking a streamer kid who is fulfilling a dream, that's where they are, just like exactly what they criticize, they get on the trend, they hop onto the algorithms, to be there, to appear in searches, so that their profile has more visits, there they are, giving everything to have 2 seconds of visits that Spreen has.

Riestra has shown to have guts and vision, something that many clubs do not have, those same clubs that let the "barrabravas" enter the stadium for free, that give them all the club’s business, ahead of the members? What respect for members are they talking about? They seek for the status quo of football not to be broken, for the machinery to keep collecting, for the Grondona model to be copied and pasted forever, that is what those who criticize Riestra defend.

Respect for Argentine football? What respect? The same one that wipes Chiqui Tapia's neck when he sweats. The era of hypocrisy is over; we are in the era of truth, where the everyday user, the member, the citizen has all the information at their fingertips and can condemn an act without these gurus of ethics and good customs telling them what to think.
